Platt Park Rec is the kind of place that reminds you Denver still does community right. It's a classic city rec center, not a fancy gym with a smoothie bar, and that's the point. Lap swim in the morning, pickup basketball in the afternoon, a fitness class squeezed in before you pick up the kids. Locals in the Platt Park and Wash Park area treat this as their default gym membership because the price is unbeatable and nobody's trying to sell you anything extra. The pool gets busy on weekends with families, the weight room is basic but functional, and the energy is neighborhood, not scene. Good for anyone who wants to move their body without the wellness-industrial complex attached. Bring your own towel.
