Wale & Smino at Mission Ballroom

A double-headliner that genuinely makes sense. D.C. lyricist Wale and St. Louis genre-bender Smino on the same bill for the Everything Is A Lot Tour. A deep-cut-heavy night that rewards anyone who has been paying attention to the last fifteen years of left-of-center hip-hop.

The pairing works because of contrast more than overlap. Wale leans East Coast lyrical, Smino brings melodic Midwestern swagger, and the show has the kind of arc that lands harder if you go in knowing both catalogs.
