Denver Restaurant Openings & Closings: October 2026

Every confirmed Denver restaurant opening and closing in October 2026, sourced from local coverage: what's new, what's gone, and what's coming.

October was a wild month for Denver restaurants, and I mean that in the full Halloween sense Westword leaned into for their coverage. Antony Bruno's team counted 36 restaurants and bars that opened across the metro in October, more than one a day for the month even after pulling out the handful of reopenings on the list. That's not a typo. That's just how much money and ambition is still flowing into the local food scene even with rents and labor costs doing what they do. But the closures this month hit different. Restaurant openings were double those of closings this month, but the ones we lost left a big hole. We're talking a 16 year Uptown institution, a Golden restaurateur who shut down both of his spots within weeks of each other, and a Southern spot near Union Station that didn't make it to its 10 year anniversary. Growth and grief, same month, same city. Here's everything we could confirm opened, closed, or is on its way in Denver this October.

Now Open

Risica (RiNo). Chef Andrea Frizzi, the guy behind Il Posto and Vero, finally opened his long awaited Milanese pizzeria and wine bar on October 19 at 3463 Walnut St., inside the Edit at River North building. Frizzi welcomed guests to his highly anticipated Italian eatery with a line of pizzas, small plates, charcuterie, and the portafogli "pizza wallets," all priced at $20 or less. Go for the pizza wallets, stay because the room has 400 plus apartment tenants walking by it all day, per Westword.

Vegan Van (East Colfax). The food truck that's been a Denver vegan favorite since 2013 finally got itself a storefront. Vegan Van opened on Colfax this week, swapping its Park Hill commissary kitchen for a brick and mortar location at 1490 Eudora St., per Westword. The spot sits right next to Viva, in a stretch of Colfax that's still feeling the construction pain from the BRT project.

Eats on the Platte (Sun Valley). This one's a big deal for the neighborhood, not just the food. It's a food hall with five stalls and a bar, but behind the scenes it also works as a food business incubator where residents of the affordable housing community can access a commissary kitchen and mentoring to help launch their own restaurant ideas. It opened October 30, per Westword and Denverite, with concepts including Wings Social Co from the Konjo Ethiopian owners and Jama Miami Cuban from the Cuba Cuba Café & Bar team.

Neo's Latin Cuisine (East Colfax/Cheesman Park). Neofito Cruz took over the old Fresh Mex space at 1818 E. Colfax Ave after a tip from a health department friend that the spot was closing. The result feels more like hanging out in your neighbor's kitchen than a traditional restaurant, skipping things like set recipes, menu descriptions, or even a consistent name on the signage. Westword covered it as a first look in late October. Go in not knowing exactly what you'll order. That's the whole point.

The Pretzelry (728 N. Lipan St.). One of the fresh names on Westword's October openings list, bringing another option to the Lipan Street corridor that's quietly turned into a mini food destination this year.

Closed

Park & Co. (Uptown). After 16 years on 17th Avenue, Park & Co. served its final dinner on October 19. It was one of the two closures Westword said left the biggest mark on the month.

The Greenwich (RiNo). The Greenwich abruptly announced it had closed for good on Sunday night, October 18, ending a five year run on Larimer Street, with owner Drew Davis writing on Instagram that the business never found its footing after he took over in January and that he accepts full responsibility.

Abejas (Golden). Abejas, named one of Westword's best new restaurants when it opened in 2015, initially said it was temporarily closing for "extended building-related issues," but a few days later announced the closure was permanent. Owner Brandon Bortles shut this one down within weeks of closing his other restaurant.

Nosu Ramen (Golden). Same owner, same tough month. Nosu Ramen closed in Golden after six years, per Westword, just ahead of Abejas going dark for good too.

Bluegrass Coffee & Bourbon Lounge (Arvada). Bluegrass Coffee & Bourbon Lounge shuttered both of its Arvada locations after 11 years, per Westword.

The L on Broadway. The L on Broadway gave up the ghost, having never really found stable footing from its pandemic-delayed start, per Westword.

Tupelo Honey (Union Station). Tupelo Honey packed up and left after just shy of 10 years near Union Station, per Westword.

Roaming Buffalo (South Denver). Not gone yet, but the end date is locked in. The barbecue spot is closing after more than a decade at the end of November, though it'll keep operating as a catering business from the space next door, with another locally owned food business set to take over the storefront.

Coming Soon

The Stockton (National Western Complex). Restaurateur Bryan Dayton, who also just bought the Kitchen American Bistro locations from Kimbal Musk, is planning a November launch for his new steak house at the National Western Complex, per 5280.

Don Raúl's Mexican Cuisine (Highland). The former La Mexicana Taqueria space at 2538 West 32nd Avenue is getting a reboot from the next generation of the Hernandez family, soon to reopen as Don Raúl's Mexican Cuisine, per Westword. The original menu stays mostly intact, just organized with more detail for folks who didn't grow up ordering off it.
