Midweek in Denver: Tonight & Tomorrow (July 22)
The best of Wednesday and Thursday in Denver: shows, socials, and reasons the weekend can wait.
Ok real talk, this Wednesday to Thursday stretch is stacked. The Strokes are playing Red Rocks two nights in a row, there's a JOJI arena show, a French happy hour that hops bars, and enough free workouts and trivia nights to make "I'm tired" sound like an excuse. Weekend's overrated anyway. Here's what's worth setting an alarm for tomorrow morning over.
Tonight
The Strokes: Reality Awaits North America, 7pm at Red Rocks. Hamilton Leithauser and ÖLÜM open. This is the show. Buy the ticket, figure out the Wednesday work situation later.
Silverstein and Story of the Year, 7pm at Mission Ballroom. Two early 2000s heavyweights on one bill, 16 and over. If you know every word to a Silverstein chorus, you already know you're going.
Wavves, 7pm at Marquis. Fuzzy surf punk in a small room, way less commitment than Red Rocks and still a great time.
Gathr: Grizzly Rose Line Dancing Night, 6:30pm at Grizzly Rose, 5450 N Valley Highway. Free lesson, no cliques, boot scoot your way through a Wednesday. Board games after if you're not ready to go home.
HTB Run Club, 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Free run, dinner and drink specials waiting when you get back. Basically a workout that pays you in beer.
The Denver Boardgames Meetup, 6pm at Edgewater Public Market. Over 7,000 members deep, tables running all night, zero pressure to know the rules going in.
Tomorrow
JOJI: SOLARIS, 7pm at Ball Arena. Big arena r&b night, the kind of show that makes Thursday feel like a Friday.
Kim Gordon, 8pm at Ogden Theatre, 16 and over. Sonic Youth legend doing her own thing. If you're into it, this is not one to sleep on.
L'Apero de Denver French Happy Hour, 7pm, rotating spots like Forest Room 5, Improper City, Barcelona Wine Bar. Email in to get the WhatsApp, then just show up to whatever patio they land on.
Geeks Who Drink Trivia, 7pm at Denver Milk Market, 1800 Wazee St. $10 pizzas, $10 drinks, and trivia questions that will absolutely humble you.
Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday, 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company, 1695 Platte St. Warmup at 6:35, tempo run, then BOGO beers. Free, and you earn the beer first this time.
Andrew Orolfo, 7:30pm at Denver Improv. Solid stand up option if you want to sit down, laugh, and still be in bed by 11.
More where that came from at /events.
