Midweek in Denver: Tonight & Tomorrow (August 5)
The best of Wednesday and Thursday in Denver: shows, socials, and reasons the weekend can wait.
The weekend is a construct. Wednesday and Thursday have real plans in them this week, and honestly some of the best ones. Here's what's worth staying out for on a school night.
Tonight
Rockies vs. Rays, 1:10pm at Coors Field. Yes it's a day game, yes you can still make it if you work downtown or just decide today's a half day. Ballpark beer in August is never a bad call.
K-LOVE Live at Red Rocks, 7pm at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. MercyMe headlines with Katy Nichole, Jon Reddick, Leanna Crawford and Benjamin William Hastings rounding out the bill. Whatever you think about the genre, it's Red Rocks on a Wednesday, and that's still Red Rocks.
Not For Radio: A Summer In The Forest, 7:30pm at Paramount Theatre. Pop show, historic venue, easy in and out downtown.
Grizzly Rose Line Dancing Night, 6:30pm at Grizzly Rose. Free lesson, no cliques, boot scoot for a couple hours and then board games take over the honky tonk. Genuinely a great time even if you've never two stepped in your life.
HTB Run Club, 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Free, year round, dinner and drink specials waiting for you at the finish. Show up, run it off, eat a burger, done by 8.
Evergreen Tech Collective Happy Hour, 5pm at Lariat Lodge Brewing Company. Low key networking that doesn't feel like networking, good beer either way.
Tomorrow
Of Monsters and Men, 8pm at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. This is the one. Icelandic indie folk at the best venue in the country, grab a blanket and go.
Shift w/ DMVU, 8:30pm at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. If you want a late one that actually feels like a night out, this is your move.
504: The Musical, 8pm at Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Theater night, dress up a little, feel like an adult for once.
Geeks Who Drink Trivia, 7pm at Denver Milk Market. $10 pizzas, $10 drinks, the Dairy Block gets packed and the questions are actually hard. Bring your smartest friends.
L'Apero de Denver, 7pm, rotating patios (Forest Room 5, Improper City, Barcelona Wine Bar). A standing French happy hour that moves around the city's better outdoor spots. Email in, get added to the group chat, show up whenever.
SardineCon Denver, 5:30pm, location TBA. Community meetup with a good track record for actually being fun instead of just an excuse to hand out business cards.
Mountain Meeple Board Games, 6pm at Edgewater Public Market. Smaller, friendlier crew than the usual game night, tables at the food hall, easy to jump in solo.
More where that came from at /events.
