Midweek in Denver: Tonight & Tomorrow (September 23)

Okay real talk, Wednesday and Thursday this week are both stacked, which is annoying because now you have to pick. The weekend concept is fake anyway (you know this), so let's just look at what's actually happening tonight and tomorrow and go from there.

Short version: tonight is Red Rocks or bust, but there's a whole undercard of run clubs and honky-tonk dancing if music isn't your speed. Tomorrow is genuinely one of the best Thursdays we've seen in a while, so plan accordingly.

Tonight

Bleachers, 7:30pm at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Jack Antonoff and company with American Football opening. This is a big one, get there early for the sunset and stay for the singalong.

Gathr: Grizzly Rose Line Dancing Night, 6:30pm at Grizzly Rose, 5450 N Valley Highway. Free lesson, no cliques, just millennials and Gen Z boot-scooting badly and then hanging out over board games after. Zero pressure, all fun.

HTB Run Club, 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Run, then dinner and drink specials right after. Basically a workout with a built in reward system.

Denver Night Life Pickleball Social, 5pm at Southpark Pickleball Complex, 400 W. County Line Rd, Highlands Ranch. This crew has almost 17,000 members for a reason. All levels welcome, show up and get put in a game.

Tomorrow

Hasan Minhaj & Ronny Chieng, 7:30pm at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Two of the sharpest comics working right now, at Red Rocks, on a Thursday. This is the pick if you want the biggest night out of the week.

Erykah Badu, 7pm at the Fillmore Auditorium. If you know, you know. This is not a "check your phone" kind of show, it's a whole experience.

Four Tet, 8pm at Mission Ballroom. Leftfield electronic music in a room with a real sound system. Good one for dancing without needing to talk to anyone.

Geeks Who Drink Trivia at Denver Milk Market, 7pm at Denver Milk Market, 1800 Wazee St. $10 pizzas, $10 drinks, and trivia questions that will make you feel dumb in a fun way. Low key, downtown, easy to get to.

L'Apero de Denver French Happy Hour, 7pm, rotating bars around the city. Wine, good patios, and a WhatsApp group that tells you where to show up. Casual and easy if you just want a glass of something and good conversation.

Bowling for Soup, 6:30pm at Summit Music Hall. If you need a night of pure nostalgia and yelling every word, this is it.

Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday, 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company, 1695 Platte St. Tempo run followed by BOGO beers. Free and honestly a great way to earn the beer.
