Midweek in Denver: Tonight & Tomorrow (October 14)
The best of Wednesday and Thursday in Denver: shows, socials, and reasons the weekend can wait.
Real talk: the weekend doesn't need your help, it's fine on its own. Wednesday and Thursday are the nights that actually need you to show up, and this week they're stacked. Red Rocks, Mission Ballroom, hockey, a honky-tonk, and a free happy hour that floats around the city's best patios. Pick your favorites and go be a person on a school night.
Tonight
Taking Back Sunday: Louder Now Live, 7pm at Red Rocks with Thrice and Saves The Day. Three bands that soundtracked your entire adolescence, one stage, under the stars. This is the kind of lineup you tell people about for years.
Movements, 7pm at Mission Ballroom. If Red Rocks is sold out or just not your thing, this is the move: smaller room, same energy, way shorter line for the bathroom.
Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars, 6:30pm at Ball Arena. Grab a beer, watch some guys get checked into the boards, feel better about your Wednesday.
Colorado Rapids vs. Minnesota United FC, 7:30pm at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Cheaper tickets than the Avs, a good excuse for a drive out to Commerce City, and actual soccer.
Grizzly Rose Line Dancing Night, 6:30pm at Grizzly Rose. Free lesson, no cliques, boots optional. They've got board games after if you want to make a full night of it.
HTB Run Club, 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Free group run that ends in dinner and drink specials, which is the only kind of cardio that makes sense to me.
Tomorrow
Charles Wesley Godwin, 6:30pm at Red Rocks with Michael Marcagi and Noeline Hofmann. Two nights in a row at the Rocks and this one's got that West Virginia singer-songwriter thing going that sounds incredible outdoors.
DJ Shadow, Mission Ballroom. A legit legend behind the decks on a Thursday, which feels like cheating.
Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks, 6:15pm at Empower Field. Thursday Night Football in person hits different. Worth skipping an early Friday for.
Geeks Who Drink Trivia, 7pm at Denver Milk Market. $10 pizzas, $10 drinks, and trivia that'll humble you fast. Bring a team or make friends at the bar.
L'Apero de Denver French Happy Hour, 7pm, location rotates (this week it's one of Forest Room 5, Improper City, or Barcelona Wine Bar). Email to get on the WhatsApp and just show up to a good patio with wine in hand.
Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday, 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company. Free tempo run followed by BOGO beers. You earn the beer first, which is the correct order of operations.
More where that came from at /events.
