The Sweat Report: Denver Fitness This Week (July 21)
Run clubs, classes, and the active plans worth showing up for this week in Denver: plus where to recover after.
It's peak July and the run club calendar is basically a dating app at this point, minus the swiping. You show up, you run a few miles, somebody hands you a beer, and now you have plans for Saturday. That's the whole system and it works.
This week's lineup covers every night except never, from 5:30am track reps to Monday brewery jogs to a D&D table that's been running since before "run club" was a personality trait. Pick your pain level, pick your crowd, then go earn some recovery time.
The Standing Plans
Denver RPG Group: D&D and Drafts, Tuesdays 6pm at Copper Kettle Brewing Co. This group has over 3,000 members and will slot you into a table, a Pathfinder campaign, or a one-shot run by an actual DM. Zero awkwardness, all dice.
Denver Run Club Tuesday Social Run, 6pm at Ratio Beerworks. About a 5K, then drinks. This is the one your coworker who "just started running" is already obsessed with.
Cooldown Running Denver, Tuesdays 6:30pm, location drops weekly on their Instagram. Run or walk, 1 to 5 miles, no pressure. Good entry point if you've never done a run club and feel weird about it.
HTB Run Club, Wednesdays 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Dinner and drink specials after, which is the actual reason attendance stays high.
Denver Boardgames Meetup, Wednesdays 6pm at Edgewater Public Market. Over 7,000 members and tables running most nights around the metro. This is the default answer if board games are your thing.
November Project Denver, Wednesdays 6:15am, alternating between Civic Center Park and the Capitol steps. Free, brutal on the legs, and the kind of crowd that yells your name even if they met you five minutes ago.
Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday, 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company. BOGO beers after the tempo run, so budget accordingly.
Citius RC Friday Breakfast Club, 6am, rotating coffee shops. Easy pace, early enough that you still get your whole Friday, and the coffee talk afterward is half the point.
Citius RC Saturday Long Run, 7am in summer, about 8 miles with pace groups so nobody gets left behind. Location posts on Strava, Instagram, and their Slack.
Union Station Farmers Market, Saturdays 8am to 1pm at the Union Station Plaza. Not a workout, but it's where half the run club crowd ends up buying peaches after their long run. Good people-watching, better produce.
Denver Trail Runners Sunday Long Run, 7 to 8am, 1.5 to 2 hours out on foothill trails that change weekly. This is the group for people who think road running is boring.
Cerebral Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6pm at Cerebral Brewing. Low key way to start the week that doesn't involve staring at your phone alone.
Odell Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6:30pm at the RiNo taproom. Same neighborhood energy as Cerebral, different beer list, so you can pick based on what you're craving.
Runners Roost Central Park Run Club, Mondays 5:45pm from the store on 35th Ave. Good if you live in Stapleton and want a run club that doesn't require driving across town.
This Week Only
Yoga on the Rocks, Saturday July 25, 7am at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Yoga mat on the actual Red Rocks stage steps, sunrise included. This one sells out fast for a reason.
Recover Right
Cherry Hills Cryo, Englewood. Personal cryotherapy with a staff that actually remembers your name and your preferred temperature setting.
Red Rock Sauna, Denver. Real Finnish sauna heat paired with a cold plunge, no gimmicks.
Axis Pilates Denver, Cheesman Park. Reformer Pilates with instructors who know what they're doing and a perfect 5 star rating to prove it.
Full calendar, every run club and rec league and everything else, lives at /events.
