The Sweat Report: Denver Fitness This Week (August 18)
Run clubs, classes, and the active plans worth showing up for this week in Denver: plus where to recover after.
It's mid-August and the run club calendar in this city is basically a full time job at this point. Good news is that's exactly the point. These are the workouts and one-offs where you show up solo and leave with plans for Friday, plus the recovery spots to fix whatever you just did to your hamstrings.
Grab a training plan or don't, honestly half these people are there for the beer at the end anyway.
The Standing Plans
Citius RC Tuesday Track Workout: Tuesdays, warmup at 5:30am, workout at 5:55am, alternates between South and North High School track. Early crowd, serious about splits, still friendly about it.
Denver Run Club Tuesday Social Run: Tuesdays 6pm at Ratio Beerworks, 2920 Larimer St. About a 5K, then drinks. This one is built for meeting people, not for your Strava PR.
Colorado Harriers Tuesday Track Workout: Tuesday mornings at North High School track. Free, structured, good if you want your speed work with a group instead of alone.
HTB Run Club: Wednesdays 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Dinner and drink specials after, year round. This is the one your friends who "don't really run" show up to.
November Project Denver Wednesday Workout: Wednesdays 6:15am, alternating between Civic Center Park and the Capitol steps. Free, no sign up, just show up and someone will make you do stair repeats.
Runners Roost Denver Wednesday Run Club: Wednesdays 6pm, group run straight from the store at 1685 S Colorado Blvd. Low key, good entry point if you're new to run clubs and don't want a whole scene.
Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday: Thursdays 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company, 1695 Platte St. Tempo run into BOGO beers, February through November. One of the best return on investment run clubs in the city.
Denver Trail Runners Thursday Evening Run: Thursdays 6:15pm, 60 to 75 minutes on rotating foothills trailheads, dinner after. Location gets posted on their Facebook or Google Group each week, so actually follow them.
Citius RC Friday Breakfast Club Social Run: Fridays 6am, easy pace, rotating coffee shops. This is the run club equivalent of a friend group brunch, minus the wait for a table.
November Project Denver Friday Workout: Fridays 6:15am at a rotating park announced Thursdays on their IG and FB. Free and it's a good way to start a Friday that's actually going somewhere by 7pm.
Citius RC Saturday Long Run: Saturdays 7am in summer, about 8 miles with pace groups, meets at rotating coffee shops and running stores posted on Strava, IG, and Slack. Bring your own group text energy.
Denver Trail Runners Sunday Long Run: Sundays 7 to 8am, 1.5 to 2 hours on metro foothill or mountain trails, location varies weekly. Good excuse to actually see the mountains instead of just posting about them.
Cerebral Brewing Run Club: Mondays 6pm from Cerebral Brewing, 1477 Monroe St. Free social run that turns Monday into a night you don't hate.
Odell Brewing Run Club: Mondays 6:30pm from Odell Brewing RiNo, 2945 Larimer St. Same idea, different taproom, RiNo crowd.
Runners Roost Central Park Monday Run Club: Mondays 5:45pm from the store at 7305 E 35th Ave #150. Solid pick if you're on the Stapleton/Central Park side and don't want to drive downtown for a run club.
This Week Only
Colorado Rapids vs. Los Angeles FC: Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30pm, Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Not a workout, but it's the one big group hangout this week if you want to sit down for once. Check the bag policy before you go.
Recover Right
High Ride Cycle - University: Platt Park. Dark room, loud music, the kind of spin class that feels more like a workout than a wellness trend.
Elevate Movement and Recovery: Platt Park. Movement therapy and recovery tech in one spot, actually addresses what's tight instead of just masking it for an hour.
Lagree Luxe Golden Triangle: Golden Triangle. Megaformer class that turns ten minutes into a full body shake, budget your recovery day accordingly.
Full calendar, every workout, every one-off, over at /events.
