The Sweat Report: Denver Fitness This Week (August 25)
Run clubs, classes, and the active plans worth showing up for this week in Denver: plus where to recover after.
It's Tuesday, which means the track workouts are already done and the week of run clubs is just getting started. This edition is your map for meeting people while your heart rate is up, plus where to go afterward when your legs are done arguing with you.
Denver's run club calendar runs on repeat, and that's the point. Show up enough Tuesdays in a row and you stop being "the new person" and start being someone people expect to see. Here's where to start and what's actually happening one time only this week.
The Standing Plans
Denver Run Club Tuesday Social Run, Tuesdays 6pm at Ratio Beerworks (2920 Larimer St). Free 5K, drinks right after at the brewery you just ran to. This is the easiest first run club to try because the whole point is standing around with a beer once you're done.
Citius RC Tuesday Track Workout, Tuesdays 5:55am (warmup 5:30) at South or North High School, alternating weeks. This is the crew that actually wants to get faster. Free, structured, and full of people who are serious about splits before sunrise.
Denver Trail Runners Tuesday Mellow Run, Tuesdays 5:30pm at Deer Creek Canyon Park. Built for newer trail runners, so nobody's dropping you on a switchback. Free and low pressure.
HTB Run Club, Wednesdays 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. The run gets you a dinner and drink deal after, which is the actual reason half the group shows up.
November Project Denver Wednesday Workout, Wednesdays 6:15am, alternating between Civic Center Park and the Capitol steps. Free, year round, and the kind of loud, hug-your-neighbor energy that either scares you off or gets you hooked.
Runners Roost Denver Wednesday Run Club, Wednesdays 6pm from the store at 1685 S Colorado Blvd. Free group run straight from the shop, good for finding your pace group without any commitment.
Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday, Thursdays 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company (1695 Platte St), running through November. Tempo run followed by BOGO beers, which might be the best value proposition in this whole newsletter.
Denver Trail Runners Thursday Evening Run, Thursdays 6:15pm, foothills trailheads announced weekly. 60 to 75 minutes then dinner after. Free, and the location changes so you're never bored of the same trail.
Citius RC Friday Breakfast Club Social Run, Fridays 6am, rotating coffee shops. Easy pace, free, and basically a coffee date with extra steps.
November Project Denver Friday Workout, Fridays 6:15am, rotating parks announced Thursdays on IG. Same free, high energy crew as Wednesday, just at a new park each week.
Citius RC Saturday Long Run, Saturdays 7am this time of year, rotating coffee shops and running stores. About 8 miles with actual pace groups, so you won't get dropped or bored. Free.
Denver Trail Runners Sunday Long Run, Sundays 7 to 8am, foothill and mountain trails announced weekly. 1.5 to 2 hours, free, and a solid way to earn a very justified Sunday nap.
Cerebral Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6pm from the brewery at 1477 Monroe St. Free social run that ends exactly where you want it to: back at the taps.
Odell Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6:30pm from the RiNo taproom (2945 Larimer St). Same idea as Cerebral, different beer, different crowd worth meeting.
Runners Roost Central Park Monday Run Club, Mondays 5:45pm from the store at 7305 E 35th Ave. Free group run out of the Stapleton/Central Park shop, good option if the RiNo brewery crowd feels like a lot.
This Week Only
Yoga on the Rocks, Saturday 8/29 at 7am, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. This session is presented by Rooted Heart Yoga & Wellness. Doing a sun salutation on that stage while the sun actually comes up over the amphitheater is worth the early alarm.
Leagues Cup Quarterfinals: Club Leon vs Real Salt Lake, tonight, 8/25 at 7pm, Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Not a workout, but it counts as an active night out if your idea of cardio is yelling at a referee. Check the venue's bag policy before you go.
Recover Right
Harmonist Sanctuary, Congress Park. Sound healing and breathwork in a space where Colfax noise just stops existing for an hour.
Ride Revolution, Platt Park. A dark, candlelit cycling studio on South Pearl that makes your cardio day feel more like a night out than a workout.
Yoga Box, Cherry Creek. Heated classes with teachers who actually remember your name, which is why people keep coming back.
Full calendar, every run club and class we didn't have room for, lives at /events.
