The Sweat Report: Denver Fitness This Week (September 1)

Run clubs, classes, and the active plans worth showing up for this week in Denver: plus where to recover after.

September is when Denver run clubs hit their stride again. The heat's backing off, the light's still good after work, and every group run in this city turns into a de facto happy hour. If your social calendar has been all brunch and no cardio, this is your week to fix that.

Below is the standing lineup worth building your week around, one actual one-off worth marking on your calendar, and three recovery spots for the days you can't move your arms above your head.

The Standing Plans

Denver Run Club Tuesday Social Run, Tuesdays 6pm at Ratio Beerworks (2920 Larimer St). Free, about 5K, and the drinks after are the whole point. This is the easiest "yes" on the list if you're new to run clubs.

Cooldown Running Denver, Tuesdays 6:30pm, location dropped weekly on their Instagram (@cooldownrunning). 1 to 5 miles, walkers welcome, low pressure. Check the app before you drive anywhere.

HTB Run Club, Wednesdays 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Free, and there are dinner and drink specials waiting when you're done, which is the real reason attendance stays solid all year.

November Project Denver Wednesday Workout, 6:15am, alternating between Civic Center Park and the Capitol steps. No membership, no cost, just a crowd that shows up before sunrise and hypes each other through it. Good place to make friends who will actually get you out of bed.

Runners Roost Denver Wednesday Run Club, 6pm from the store at 1685 S Colorado Blvd. Free group run straight from the shop, all paces welcome, staff know regulars by name.

Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday, 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company (1695 Platte St). Tempo run followed by BOGO beers, runs February through November. This one fills a patio fast.

Denver Trail Runners Thursday Evening Run, 6:15pm, foothills trailheads announced weekly via their Facebook/Google Group. 60 to 75 minutes on dirt, dinner after. Trail people are some of the friendliest in this city, don't overthink joining.

Citius RC Friday Breakfast Club, 6am, rotating coffee shops. Easy pace, free, and built entirely around the coffee afterward. Low stakes, high caffeine.

November Project Denver Friday Workout, 6:15am, rotating parks announced Thursdays on their IG/FB. Same crew, different park, same energy.

Citius RC Saturday Long Run, 7am summer (moves to 8am later in the year), around 8 miles with pace groups so you're not guessing who to run with. Meetup spot posted weekly on Strava, IG, and Slack.

Denver Trail Runners Sunday Long Run, 7 to 8am, 1.5 to 2 hours on metro foothill or mountain trails, location varies weekly. Free and a solid excuse to see terrain you wouldn't run to on your own.

Cerebral Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6pm from the brewery at 1477 Monroe St. Free run, no pressure to be fast, beer's right there when you're back.

Odell Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6:30pm from the RiNo taproom (2945 Larimer St). Same deal as Cerebral, different beer, different crowd worth meeting.

Runners Roost Central Park Monday Run Club, 5:45pm from the store at 7305 E 35th Ave. Free group run for the Stapleton/Central Park side of town, good option if the RiNo and Highland spots are too far a drive.

This Week Only

Mile High Young Professionals Monthly Social, Tuesday September 8, 6pm, rotating venue (recent ones have landed at The University Club, 1673 Sherman St). Get there by 5:45 for orientation if you're new. This is Denver's longest-running young-pro mixer and it happens like clockwork every second Tuesday, so put it on repeat in your calendar now.

Recover Right

Light Lounge Denver, Congress Park. 5 out of 5 rating and the kind of spot you book the morning after a long run when your legs need more than a foam roller can give them.

Axis Pilates Denver, Capitol Hill (Cheesman Park side). Reformer Pilates led by instructors who actually know what they're doing, perfect 5-star rating to back it up.

Denver Pilates Movement, LoHi. Another reformer studio pulling a perfect 5-star rating, good option if you want strength work on your rest days instead of just stretching.
