Things to Do in Denver This Weekend (August 28–30)

Dave Matthews is doing back to back nights at Fiddler's Green, Red Rocks has Goose one night and Bryson Tiller the next, and somehow Lil Wayne is throwing a 20 year anniversary show at JUNKYARD too. Basically every big room in town is packed this weekend, so the plan should be: pick one big ticket show, then fill in the rest with patios, comedy, and whatever nightclub set fits your mood. Here's what's actually worth your Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Friday

Dave Matthews Band at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre, 7:30pm. This is the first of two sold out nights, so if you're going, you already have tickets. This one will sell out if it hasn't already.

An Evening With Goose at Red Rocks, 7:30pm. A full evening set (no opener) at the best venue in the state, this one will sell out.

Cherry Groove by Cherry Creek North at Fillmore Plaza, starting at 4pm. Brand new two day outdoor music fest with nine local bands and food from Every Little Thing. Good excuse to hang out on a patio-adjacent plaza before doing something else at night.

Chicago & Styx: The Windy Cities Tour at Ball Arena, 7pm. Two classic rock bands in one arena show, this one will sell out closer to the date.

The Sword and Red Fang at Mission Ballroom, 8pm (16+). Heavy riffs, big room, get there for the opener.

Hayla at Ogden Theatre, 9pm (16+). If you're into moody R&B with a big voice behind it, this is your Friday.

Tune-Yards at Meow Wolf Denver, 8pm. Weird, danceable, and the venue itself is half the fun.

Emo Night Karaoke at Marquis, 8pm. Scream your feelings into a mic surrounded by strangers doing the same. Cheap therapy.

Snakehips at The Church Nightclub, 10pm. Late night dance set in a converted church, exactly as much fun as that sounds.

Downtown Littleton Wine Walk, check in near 2409 W Main St., 4:30pm. Wristband and glass gets you ten small pours across nearly 20 shops. Easy pregame for anything else on the list.

Saturday

Bryson Tiller Presents: The Neo Trapsoul Tour at Red Rocks, 7:30pm. Majid Jordan and Ty Dolla $ign are also on the bill. This one will sell out.

Lil Wayne: 20 Years Of Carter Classics at JUNKYARD, 7:30pm. A whole night of Carter era Wayne. This one will sell out.

Denver Food + Wine Festival: Grand Tasting at Tivoli Quad, Auraria Campus, 12pm. More than 40 Colorado restaurants pouring bites next to hundreds of wines. Bring a friend and split tastings so you actually get through the whole floor.

Englewood Block Party on the 3400 block of South Broadway, 4pm. Free street party, live music from Hazel Miller & The Collective, food trucks, and a beer garden. Zero cover, all vibes.

Sarah Squirm at Comedy Works Downtown, 7pm. Sarah Sherman's stand up is unhinged in the best way, grab VIP if you want front row chaos.

Satin Jackets at Bluebird Theatre, 8:30pm. Chill synth pop, good date night or good solo dance night, either works.

Jason Ross at Ogden Theatre, 9pm (16+). Electronic set that'll get the room moving without wrecking your Sunday too hard.

Little Stranger at Mission Ballroom, 6:30pm. Good early show if you want to be home before midnight but still get out.

Colorado Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan's Lake Park, 10am. Free two day AANHPI cultural celebration with dragon boat races starting at 8am, an Asian marketplace, and live performances. Good daytime hang before you pivot to whatever show you picked for the night.

Sunday

Ty Myers at Red Rocks, 7:30pm. With Brent Cobb and Benny G opening, a solid country lineup to close the weekend outdoors.

Salsa & Bachata Sundays at La Rumba, 7pm. If you can dance or want to learn, this is the room for it every week.

Dennis Ferrer, Sem Jacobs, option4 at Club Vinyl, 1pm. A daytime house set for people who want to dance before dinner instead of at 1am.

Free This Weekend

Walker Fine Art Opening Reception, Friday 5pm, Walker Fine Art in the Golden Triangle. New work from five contemporary artists including Julie Maren and Jane Fulton. Free wine, free art, no reason not to swing by.

Rotating Tap Comedy, Friday 7:30pm, Waldschänke Ciders + Coffee. Free stand up showcase on a cidery patio, national and local comedians rotating through.

Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, Saturday and Sunday, Sloan's Lake Park. Free entry, races start at 8am, food and marketplace all day.

Englewood Block Party, Saturday 4pm, South Broadway. Free street party with a full band lineup and food trucks.

Union Station Farmers Market, Saturday 8am, Denver Union Station Plaza. Grab coffee and produce before your day gets loud.

South Pearl Street Farmers Market, Sunday 9am, S. Pearl St. between Iowa & Arkansas. One of the better markets in the city, good for a slow recovery morning.
