Season Ticker: Sell After-Work Daylight, Buy Patio Season
Sunset hits 4:58 pm Sunday, so sell after-work daylight; 4 of 4 forecast days hit 60F, so buy patios.
Sunset hits 4:58 pm this Sunday once the clocks fall back, so the after-work daylight window shuts this week.
This is the Season Ticker: five seasonal Denver stocks, each with a BUY, HOLD or SELL, one number and a line we set before the week starts. We grade every call next Monday.
This week's board
- After-work daylight: SELL NEW Sunset 6:05 pm Mon, 4:58 pm by Sun Nov 1 (MDT to MST), per NOAA solar calculator (checked Oct 23). The line: BUY at 7:00 pm or later, SELL before 6:00. After Monday it only gets earlier, so plan after-work stuff under lights.
- Haunted houses: BUY NEW 13th Floor posts "select nights" through Nov. 14 (the 2026 year comes from a Visit Denver listing), per 13th Floor Haunted House (checked Oct 23). The line: BUY if the posted season covers Fri and Sat. We couldn't confirm Oct 30 or 31 are operating nights, so check its ticket calendar first.
- I-70 skiing: SELL NEW Five I-70 stations hold 0.3 in of snow water vs a 3.2 in median, 9% (as of Oct 22), per NRCS SNOTEL (checked Oct 23). The line: BUY at 100%, SELL under 60%. Loveland Basin reads 0 in of snow on the ground, and we couldn't confirm any I-70 area is open, so leave the skis in the garage.
- Patio season: BUY NEW 4 of 4 forecast days (Mon to Thu) hit 60F, per NWS forecast (checked Oct 23). The line: BUY at 60% of days, SELL at 25% or fewer. Tue and Wed top out at 66F, so start at Linger (4.5 on Google, 5,520 reviews, as of May 2).
- Red Rocks season: BUY NEW 7 show nights Oct 26 to Nov 1, per our events calendar (checked Oct 23). The line: BUY at 3 or more, SELL at none. Halloween week runs Haunted Rocks on Thu and deadmau5 Fri and Sat, so pick your night in the calendar.
Last week, graded
This is the first board, so there's nothing to grade yet. Next Monday we score these five against what actually happened.
Best move this week: a Tuesday patio night, with a 66F high in the forecast.
