Denver at 25 to 35: Making Friends After You Move Here

Run clubs, Meetup socials and repeat classes are the realistic routes to friends when you move to Denver in your late 20s.

Moving to Denver in your late 20s and realizing your only local contacts are your landlord and a coworker is pretty normal. Friends don't happen by accident at this age, so you have to put yourself in the same room as the same people, over and over.

The good news is Denver makes that easy if you like moving around outside, and doable if you don't. Here's what's on the calendar right now and what tends to work.

The short version

Pick one weekly thing and show up every week for a couple of months. Repetition does most of the work. A one-off event is fine for getting out of the apartment, but a standing Tuesday is where you start recognizing faces and getting invited to stuff.

Run clubs are the easiest weekly habit here. Meetup groups work if you'd rather skip the cardio. Classes and group activities fill the gaps.

What people actually do

Run clubs. Plenty of them are free and end at a bar, which gives you a built-in reason to stick around and talk. A third-party directory lists Denver Run Club doing 5k runs Tuesdays at 6pm from Ratio Beerworks in RiNo, all paces (checked 2026-10-29). Westword's run club roundup has Denver Athletics at Cerebral Brewing's Congress Park taproom (1477 Monroe St) on Mondays at 6 p.m., and Cooldown (1610 Little Raven St) on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. (6 p.m. in winter) with drinks after. That page is a few months old, and these schedules come from directories, so confirm with the club before you lace up. If you want dirt, Denver Trail Runners is listed as free with no sign-up.

Meetup. Denver 20s and 30s Social lists an after-work social in Arvada on Mon Nov 2 and Mon Nov 16 at 7:30 PM, plus a Saturday night in LoHi on Nov 7 at 8:00 PM (checked 2026-10-29). Location is members-only, so join first. The downside is turnover: crowds change week to week, so it's better for meeting people than keeping them.

Classes. TruFusion Denver 9&Co runs hot yoga, HIIT and barre, with 4.9 stars from 677 reviews as of 2026-08-05. Go to the same class time and you'll see the same people.

Turning a contact into a hangout. Once you've got a few names, suggest something specific. Immersive Gamebox in Congress Park (4.9 stars, 3365 reviews as of 2026-09-05) works for groups and doesn't require drinking. Van Gogh Denver in RiNo (4.9 stars, 637 reviews as of 2026-08-17) is an easy rainy-day plan. For the 21-plus crowd, Cirrus Social Club on Colfax is a cannabis lounge with 4.9 stars from 916 reviews as of 2026-08-22.

The practical stuff

It's late October, so outdoor clubs shift earlier or shrink as it gets dark and cold. Check schedules weekly. Some brewery run clubs may wrap for the season in November.

Choose something close to home or work. A club across town on a weeknight is the first thing you'll skip. RTD helps if you'd rather not drive to a bar.
