The Sweat Report: Denver Fitness This Week (August 4)
Run clubs, classes, and the active plans worth showing up for this week in Denver: plus where to recover after.
It's the first Tuesday of August and Denver is somehow still doing the thing where mornings feel amazing and afternoons feel like a sauna with bad intentions. Perfect weather for making the 5:55am alarm actually worth it.
This week's lineup is heavy on the classics: track workouts before work, brewery runs after work, and one legitimately massive board game meetup if running isn't your love language. Show up, sweat a little, and let the social part happen on its own.
Here's what's worth putting on the calendar, plus where to go when your legs need a break from all this main character energy.
The Standing Plans
Citius RC Tuesday Track Workout: Tuesdays, warmup at 5:30am, workout at 5:55am, South or North High School track (they alternate). This is the crew that actually shows up before sunrise and means it.
Denver Trail Runners Tuesday Mellow Run: Tuesdays 5:30pm at Deer Creek Canyon Park. Built for newer trail runners, so nobody's going to drop you on a climb.
Denver Run Club Tuesday Social Run: Tuesdays 6pm at Ratio Beerworks, 2920 Larimer St. About 5K, then drinks. This is the one where you actually meet people because the run is basically the appetizer.
Cooldown Running Denver Tuesday Run: Tuesdays 6:30pm, 1 to 5 miles, run or walk. Location changes weekly, check @cooldownrunning on Instagram before you leave the house.
November Project Denver Wednesday Workout: Wednesdays 6:15am, alternating between Civic Center Park and the Capitol steps. Free, year-round, and the crowd is loud in a good way.
HTB Run Club: Wednesdays 6:30pm from Highland Tap & Burger. Dinner and drink specials waiting for you at the finish, which is really all the motivation anyone needs.
The Denver Boardgames Meetup: Wednesdays 6pm at Edgewater Public Market. Over 7,000 members deep, this thing runs tables somewhere in Denver almost every night. If your knees need a week off from running, this is your social fix.
Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday: Thursdays 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company, 1695 Platte St. Tempo run followed by BOGO beers, which is the correct order of operations.
Citius RC Thursday Tempo Workout: Thursdays 5:30am at the South High School parking lot. Same energy as their Tuesday track crew, just earlier and hillier.
November Project Denver Friday Workout: Fridays 6:15am, location announced Thursdays on their social. Rotating parks keep it interesting week to week.
Citius RC Friday Breakfast Club Social Run: Fridays 6am, easy pace, rotating coffee shops. Low pressure, high caffeine, exactly how a Friday should start.
Citius RC Saturday Long Run: Saturdays 7am in summer, about 8 miles with pace groups, meeting at rotating coffee shops and running stores (check their Strava, IG, or Slack). Solid group to find your long run people.
Denver Trail Runners Sunday Long Run: Sundays around 7 to 8am, 1.5 to 2 hours on foothill and mountain trails. Location changes weekly, so watch their page before you commit.
Odell Brewing Run Club: Mondays 6:30pm from Odell Brewing RiNo, 2945 Larimer St. Free social run straight out of the taproom, no excuse needed.
Cerebral Brewing Run Club: Mondays 6pm from Cerebral Brewing, 1477 Monroe St. Same idea, different beer, same good time.
This Week Only
Yoga on the Rocks: Saturday, August 8 at 7am, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Doing sun salutations on the actual Red Rocks stage is the kind of thing you brag about later.
Mile High Young Professionals Monthly Social: Tuesday, August 11 at 6pm, recent socials have been at The University Club, 1673 Sherman St. Get there by 5:45 for orientation if you're new, this network runs like clockwork.
Recover Right
Synergistic Movement: Golden Triangle. Functional training and mobility work for bodies that actually need to move, not just stretch.
Elevate Movement and Recovery: Platt Park. Movement therapy plus recovery tech that actually fixes what's hurting instead of just masking it.
Yoga Box: Cherry Creek. Heated classes and teachers who actually remember your name, which is rare enough to mention.
Full calendar of everything happening this week lives at /events.
