The Sweat Report: Denver Fitness This Week (October 27)

Run clubs, classes, and the active plans worth showing up for this week in Denver: plus where to recover after.

Daylight savings hits this weekend, which means your evening runs are about to get dark fast and your motivation to leave the apartment is about to get real low. This week is your window to lock in a standing plan before it's pitch black at 5pm. Grab a group, make it a habit, use the first round after as the actual reward.

Also: Teddy Swims is at Ball Arena on Saturday, so if your run club crew wants to turn Saturday morning miles into a Saturday night singalong, you've got a built in excuse.

The Standing Plans

Denver Run Club - Tuesday Social Run, Tuesdays 6pm at Ratio Beerworks (2920 Larimer St). About 5K, free, and the whole point is the drinks after. This is the easiest low-stakes way to meet people in RiNo without matching on an app first.

Colorado Harriers - Tuesday Track Workout, Tuesday mornings at North High School track. Free, no fluff, just a group of people who actually want to get faster and will push you to keep up.

Runners Roost Denver - Wednesday Run Club, Wednesdays 6pm from the store at 1685 S Colorado Blvd. Free group run straight from a running store, so the crowd skews people who actually know what they're doing and are happy to tell you about it.

HTB Run Club, Wednesdays 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Dinner and drink specials after, year round, which is basically the entire reason to run on a Wednesday.

November Project Denver - Wednesday Workout, Wednesdays 6:15am, alternating between Civic Center Park and the Capitol steps. Free, brutal, and full of people who are weirdly happy about burpees before sunrise. You will make friends out of sheer shared suffering.

Colorado Harriers - Tempo Thursday, Thursdays 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company (1695 Platte St). Tempo run followed by BOGO beers, running through November. This one fills a room fast.

Denver Trail Runners - Thursday Evening Run, Thursdays 6:15pm at a foothills trailhead that changes weekly (check their Facebook or Google Group). Free, 60 to 75 minutes, dinner after. Good one if you'd rather trade pavement for dirt mid week.

Citius RC - Friday Breakfast Club Social Run, Fridays 6am, location rotates between coffee shops. Free, easy pace, and it ends with coffee instead of beer, which is honestly a nice change of pace by the end of the week.

Denver Run Club - Friday Track Workout, Fridays around 6:30am at North High School track. Free track session to close out the week if Wednesday's November Project burpees weren't enough punishment.

Citius RC - Saturday Long Run, Saturdays 8am this time of year (7am in summer), rotating start points. About 8 miles with pace groups, free, and the kind of run where you end up with someone's number by mile 4.

Denver Trail Runners - Sunday Long Run, Sundays 7 to 8am, 1.5 to 2 hours on foothill or mountain trails that change weekly. Free and a solid way to actually see the mountains instead of just talking about moving closer to them.

Odell Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6:30pm at Odell Brewing RiNo (2945 Larimer St). Free social run straight from the taproom, which makes the Monday scaries a lot easier to deal with.

Cerebral Brewing Run Club, Mondays 6pm at Cerebral Brewing (1477 Monroe St). Smaller crowd than the RiNo breweries, same free beer logic, good if you want fewer people and more actual conversation.

Runners Roost Central Park - Monday Run Club, Mondays 5:45pm from the store at 7305 E 35th Ave. Free group run for the Stapleton/Central Park crowd who don't want to drive downtown on a Monday.

This Week Only

Teddy Swims: The UGLY Tour, Saturday, November 1 at 7pm, Ball Arena. Not a workout, but if your run club finishes early enough, this is exactly the kind of night that makes the 8am long run worth it.

Recover Right

Elevate Movement and Recovery, Platt Park. Movement therapy and recovery tech in one spot, the kind of place that actually fixes whatever you tweaked on that tempo run.

KinetikChain Physical Therapy Denver, Cherry Creek. One-on-one PT for people who train hard and want back in the gym fast instead of sitting around icing for a month.

Highline Aesthetics Denver, Golden Triangle. A 5-star studio for natural-looking results, no pressure, good for post-race skin that's seen better days.

Full calendar, every run club, every workout, every date, lives at /events.
