The Sweat Report: Denver Fitness This Week (September 8)

Run clubs, classes, and the active plans worth showing up for this week in Denver: plus where to recover after.

Tuesday means the week is officially back on, and Denver's run club calendar does not care that you're tired. Between the Tuesday morning track sessions and the Friday breakfast runs, this town has more ways to meet people while sweating than most cities have happy hours.

Grab your shoes, pick a night (or five), and use the recovery spots at the bottom to undo all of it responsibly.

The Standing Plans

Citius RC Tuesday Track Workout: Tuesdays, 5:30am warmup, 5:55am go time, South or North High School (alternates weekly). The crowd that's serious enough to be up this early and still cracking jokes on the recovery jog.

Denver Run Club Tuesday Social Run: Tuesdays 6pm at Ratio Beerworks, 2920 Larimer St. About 5K, then everyone stands around with a beer and actually talks. This is the one your friend who "hates running clubs" will still love.

Cooldown Running Denver Tuesday Run: 6:30pm, 1 to 5 miles, run or walk your pace. Location changes weekly, so follow @cooldownrunning on Instagram or you'll be standing alone somewhere confused.

HTB Run Club: Wednesdays 6:30pm at Highland Tap & Burger. Dinner and drink specials after, which is the whole reason this one has a real regular crew.

November Project Denver Wednesday Workout: 6:15am, alternating between Civic Center Park and the Capitol steps. Free, year round, and the kind of group where strangers hug you before you've even said your name.

Colorado Harriers Tempo Thursday: 6:30pm at Denver Beer Company, 1695 Platte St. BOGO beers after a tempo run is the exact math that keeps a run club alive for years.

Denver Trail Runners Thursday Evening Run: 6:15pm, 60 to 75 minutes on foothills trails, dinner after. Location moves around, check their Facebook or Google Group before you drive anywhere.

Citius RC Friday Breakfast Club: 6am, easy pace, rotating coffee shops. This is the version of a run club for people who mainly showed up for the coffee, and nobody will judge you for it.

November Project Denver Friday Workout: 6:15am, location announced Thursdays on IG/FB. Same energy as Wednesday, different park, still free.

Union Station Farmers Market: Saturdays 8am to 1pm at Union Station Plaza. Not a workout, but it's where half of Tuesday's run club ends up buying peaches at 9am looking extremely proud of themselves.

Citius RC Saturday Long Run: 7am in summer (8am rest of year), about 8 miles with real pace groups. Location posted weekly on Strava, IG, and their Slack, so join the group chat if you're in.

Denver Trail Runners Sunday Long Run: 7 to 8am, 1.5 to 2 hours on foothill or mountain trails, location varies weekly. The best excuse to see the mountains before brunch.

Cerebral Brewing Run Club: Mondays 6pm at Cerebral Brewing, 1477 Monroe St. Small, low key, and a good way to make Monday feel less like Monday.

Odell Brewing Run Club: Mondays 6:30pm at Odell's RiNo taproom, 2945 Larimer St. Free run, then the taproom is right there, so nobody has an excuse to leave early.

Runners Roost Central Park Monday Run Club: Mondays 5:45pm from the store at 7305 E 35th Ave #150. Great option if you're new to running and want a group that starts and ends at a store full of people who can fix your shoe problems on the spot.

This Week Only

Mile High Young Professionals Monthly Social: Tuesday, Sept 9, 6pm (get there by 5:45 for orientation), rotating venue, recently at The University Club, 1673 Sherman St. This is the long running networking crowd, not a workout, but a solid warmup for the actual run club two blocks away.

9/11 Stair Climb: Friday, Sept 11, 8am at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. If you've never done stairs at Red Rocks with a crowd around you, this is the day to find out how hard it actually is.

Recover Right

Denver Pilates Movement, LoHi: the spot for people who need their hips to still work after all these run clubs.

Infusion IV Lounge, Uptown: for the mornings after the Odell or Cerebral run turned into three beers instead of one.

Red Rock Sauna, Denver: real Finnish heat and a cold plunge after, which is exactly what your legs need post long run.
